Ungodly Ravenfield Installation guide

01 Overview

Ungodly Ravenfield

Three mods for Ravenfield, and a guide that takes you from a completely unmodded copy of the game to all three of them running — with a photograph of what every folder should look like when you are done.

If you have never modded a Unity game before, start at the top and do not skip anything. The whole install is four steps and takes about ten minutes.

What you are actually installing#

Ravenfield ships as a 64-bit Unity game built on the Mono runtime. Nothing in it was designed to load third-party code, so a mod loader has to be added first. That loader is BepInEx, and it works by placing a file called winhttp.dll next to the game executable. Windows loads that file when the game starts, BepInEx takes control for a moment, loads every plugin it finds, and hands control back.

Each of these three mods is a single .dll file that BepInEx picks up. There is no installer, no patcher, and no game file is ever modified. Deleting a DLL removes that mod completely. Deleting winhttp.dll removes the entire modding layer and returns Ravenfield to a stock install.

The short version#

If you have modded a Unity game before, this is all you need. Every one of these four steps has a full page behind it if anything does not go the way it reads here.

  1. Get the right BepInEx pack

    About two minutes

You need BepInEx_win_x64_5.4.23.3.zip — the Windows, 64-bit, Mono build of BepInEx 5. An IL2CPP build or an x86 build will not load these plugins.

  2. Extract it into the Ravenfield folder

    The step people get wrong

Not into a subfolder. When you are finished, winhttp.dll must sit in the same folder as ravenfield.exe.

How to find that folder, and what "into" means →

  3. Launch the game once, then quit

    Wait for the main menu

This is what makes BepInEx create its plugins and config folders. Skipping it is the single most common installation mistake, because there is then nowhere to put the mods.

  4. Drop the three DLLs into BepInEx\plugins

Then launch and press F4, F5 or F6

Each archive contains one DLL and a README. The DLL goes in BepInEx\plugins\. The README does not go anywhere — it is for you.

What it looks like when it is working#

These are the panels each mod opens in game. Every screenshot on this site is a real capture from a working install — click any of them to open the original at full resolution.

Ungodly Ravenfield Gore — the Blood tabIn-game panel
Ungodly Ravenfield Gore — the Blood tab Press F4 in a match. The counters along the bottom show droplets in the air, chunks, bodies, stored stains and current frame time — so you can see the cost of a setting as you move it.

The three mods#

Ungodly Ravenfield AI F5

A ground-up overhaul of how Ravenfield's bots think, move, shoot, drive and fly — built by reading the game's actual AI source rather than guessing at it.

The headline change is a fix for Ravenfield's AI thinking budget, which quietly starves bots of decision time once a battle passes about sixty men — the real cause of bots standing still on big maps.

Ungodly Ravenfield Enhanced F6

Takes control of Ravenfield's rendering, interface scaling, field of view and frame pacing, and exposes every one of it through an in-game panel and a fully commented config file.

It also fixes Ravenfield's ultrawide handling, which currently takes vertical view away from you as your monitor gets wider instead of giving you more to the sides.

Ungodly Ravenfield Gore F4

Blood that never fades, limbs that come off, bodies that burst, and corpses that stay on the field after their owner respawns.

It replaces the game's decal ring buffer, which paints over old blood once it fills, with chunked storage that keeps allocating — and ends up doing less work per frame than the stock system.

Ready to start#

Next is a short page on what you need before you download anything — how to confirm your game folder, why the 64-bit Mono build is the only one that works, and the two Windows settings that cause most failed installs.
